 Indiana First Steps
Janus Developmental Services, Inc. First Steps Program is an early intervention program serving children from birth to three years of age. It is difficult to determine whether a child is reaching the appropriate developmental milestones. Our experienced, qualified trained First Steps staff will provide your child with a comprehensive full evaluation in the comfort and privacy of your home. Based on the results of the evaluation, the First Steps staff will develop a plan that can encompass a variety of early intervention therapies designed to help your child reach important developmental milestones. The program also provides pertinent, essential information for questions you may have regarding your child’s development. Janus Developmental Services, Inc. is proud to offer this early intervention to our community.

| A Success Story... |
Our experiences with Janus Development Services have spanned nearly 15 years beginning when our daughter was in First Steps. Throughout this time, the staff has been professional and friendly. They have worked in creative ways to help our child reach her goals. Both she and I looked forward to our visits from the Janus therapists because they made learning fun and we were able to see her progress almost weekly. The DT, OT, PT (Developmental Therapist, Occupational Therapist, Physical Therapist) and Speech therapists would leave us with great ideas for activities we could work on until their next visit which made me feel more empowered as a parent. Alex is in the 9th grade now and doing well in high school. Our family truly believes that the early intervention services we received from Janus Developmental Services were the key to her development and the success she is having in school today. I truly do not know where we would be had it not been for the expertise of the staff at Janus.
We currently use the Hamilton County Express which is teaching Alex independence and money skills as well as providing a much needed service for our family. She rides the bus weekly to get to therapy, helping our family manage our busy schedule. I don’t think we could manage to get her to her appointments without this vital service. Hamilton County is lucky to have such a community minded organization like Janus available for our citizens with special needs!

| Therapist of the Month |
 Our featured First Steps therapist of the month is Jacquie Newman. Jacquie is a Physical Therapist. Our physical therapists work primarily with large muscle functions and mobility. Jacquie has been a therapist in the First Steps system for 10 years. She has many years of pediatric physical therapy experience including experience as a member of the Riverview Hospital Pediatric Rehab Team. She was a member of the Janus/Riverview First Steps Eligibility Determination (ED) team for several years. Jacquie is certified in Neurodevelopmetal Treatment (NDT) and is a strong advocate for parent/family involvement. She has the opportunity to collaborate with an entire pediatric team and has access to a large inventory of toys and materials.
